Spanish Teacher

Music Teacher

Description:

Elmwood Village Charter Schools is seeking applicants for a full-time Music teacher position. Our music teacher is responsible for providing and teaching music curriculum and instrumental music classes to students at all grade levels.   • NYS Certification in music with instrumental experience

Front Desk Administrative Assistant (full-time)

Description:

Elmwood Village Charter School Hertel seeks a Front Desk Administrative Assistant for its main office. The Front Desk Assistant is the face of the school and often the first person to interact with visitors. Candidates should be warm, professional, tech-savvy, and able to multi-task with attention to detail on projects that support a diverse community of students, parents/guardians, faculty and the Principal. Qualified candidates must undergo fingerprinting upon hire.

Responsibilities include:

  • Greeter: greets parents and visitors
  • Transportation coordinator: primary contact for coordinating daily recurring and alternate transportation arrangements for students; manage changes to arrangements through an online app; support the transportation team during dismissal; assist faculty by making transportation arrangements for field trips, etc.
  • Administrative assistant: supports the needs of the principal, assistant principal, administrative team
  • Faculty liaison: supports faculty/staff team and helps boost morale and school spirit throughout the year
  • Receptionist: Fields phone calls, answers questions, and directs inquiries to the appropriate staff; maintains office calendar; assists parent-administrative communications
  • Confidentiality: the Front Desk Administrative Assistant performs the duties associated with the position while protecting the confidentiality of the School’s population.

Middle School Special Education Teacher, Grades 7 & 8

Description:

The special education teacher identifies needs of students with special education needs in relation to grade level objectives, applies a program of instruction consistent with student learning needs and curriculum objectives as outlined in the Individual Education Plan (IEP), uses appropriate teaching strategies and instructional materials, and assesses student progress.

Responsibilities:

The position includes but is not limited to the following list of representative duties:

  • Identify specific student learning outcomes to be attained in relation to student learning needs and IEP objectives and maintain appropriate documentation
  • Determine a sequence of learning experiences, utilizing instructional materials and appropriate supplementary materials adopted by EVCS
  • Develop and utilize written plans, that may include long-term and daily/weekly plans, as the basis of instruction
  • Apply appropriate teaching strategies consistent with student needs, selected curriculum, and time allocations
  • Make appropriate accommodations for student physical, educational, or behavioral disabilities
  • Assist in training regular education teachers regarding successful integration of students with special needs into their classes and activities; assist with modification of activities if needed
  • Consult and collaborate with regular education staff, support staff, and administration regarding strategies for student success
  • Provide assistance to students with special education needs in regular education classes when appropriate
  • Develop and communicate to students and parents the expectations regarding student behavior and related consequences as per EVCS policies
  • Coordinate other services to the student as needed, for example, speech therapy, adapted physical education, occupational and physical therapy
  • Make appropriate use of instructional time; maintain an appropriate physical environment and appropriate individual, class, and program records
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, utilizing means such as parent-teacher conferences, telephone calls, and quarterly written progress reports
  • Receive parent requests for information and assistance and respond through conferences, telephone conversations, and written communications
  • Encourage parents to provide in-home support
  • Provide a nurturing, supportive, and positive learning environment with high expectations that encourage student responsibility

Minimum Qualifications:

        • Valid NYS Special Education Teacher Certification as required by law
        • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. Master’s degree preferred.

Substitute Teachers

The Elmwood Village Charter School is looking for qualified substitute teachers. These positions will be on an as-needed basis, but will be called frequently. Substitute teachers are paid $100 per day and $50 for half-day assignments.

Responsibilities

            • Maintaining a safe and welcoming classroom environment
            • Leading and facilitating activities for children
            • Modeling positive and appropriate classroom behavior
            • Maintaining a clean and organized classroom environment
            • Supporting and assisting fellow staff and management
            • Maintaining a high level of energy throughout the work day

Qualifications & Requirements

            • Satisfactorily pass a criminal background check
            • Bachelor’s degree
            • Teaching certification (or working towards certification) is preferred
            • Teaching experience is preferred
            • Substantial experience working with children is a MUST
            • Reliable, punctual and available on short notice
            • Love of education and children grades Pre-K through 8th grade
            • Great communication and organizational skills
            • MUST provide two professional references (at least one from someone in a supervisory role)
