Salary: The expected compensation for this position is $26,000-$30,000 annually. Salary is commensurate with experience and education.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a student-centered, dynamic Instructional Assistant who will:
● Provide support to our teachers and staff members by fostering a culture of academic rigor and achievement
● Work with teachers to address individual learning needs of students
● Plan and provide the Social Emotional Curriculum to the classroom
● Deliver instruction planned by general education teacher including providing small group instruction
● Keep students on task by engaging them in the lesson
● Complete documentation for RTI under the supervision of the general education teacher
● Provide Academic Intervention Support (AIS) under direction of general education teacher
● Assist in classroom set-up and logistics – prepping student materials or manipulatives, classroom beautification and maintenance, etc.
● Provide lunch supervision
● Support in student behavioral management and de-escalating challenging student behaviors
● Ensure the safety of students at all times
● Supervise students in and out of classroom as needed – this may include but is not limited to – moving students to proper locations during fire drills, lunch and recess duty, enrichment activities/classes, etc.
● Provide an inviting, exciting, stimulating, and innovative learning environment
● Maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning by following the Responsive Classroom and Cooperative Discipline models
● Enable students to develop social responsibility by faithfully following the Responsive Classroom and Cooperative Discipline models
● Additional responsibilities to meet the needs of our students

● Ability to build strong relationships with children and engaging them in lessons
● Ability to pass a NYS Education Department background check
● Excellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and the ability to work both independently and on a team Preferred Qualifications
● Experience working with students preferably in a classroom setting
● New York State Elementary Teaching Certificate or NYS Certification as an Instructional Assistant
● Bachelor’s Degree
