The Opportunity

We are looking for a creative Data Manager to lead our data management practices and provide technical support to our schools and staff. The person in this role will:

Student Information, Data & Reporting

  • Complete state, federal and local reporting to include biennial Civil Rights Data Collection and SPED and District Billing in a timely manner
  • Serve as the District Data Coordinator for both schools, working in the regional and state-wide data repositories and attend quarterly meetings
  • Develop reports and conduct research requests for internal and external stakeholders to include New York State, our authorizer and the Board of Regents Charter School Office and ensure they are certified as appropriate
  • Interface with our technology contractor  about data transfers to outside providers
  • Prepare and maintain other computer databases pertaining to student records, activities and demographic information
  • Perform data reviews to include student achievement data for various at risk subgroups
  • Analyze and provide interim assessment data for the curriculum and instruction team
  • Manage the current data dashboard in PowerSchool
  • Create and manage a data dashboard for the Board of Trustees

Administration, Training and Support

  • Manage the Student Data Coordinator
  • Develop effective data management processes and procedures that govern how student data systems are used and data is entered in each system
  • Streamline processes and customize features within PowerSchool in order to improve user experience, operational efficiency and yield better data management practices
  • Provide instruction and disseminate information to Principals and other school administrators regarding student information requirements for the operation of the student information system
  • Provide first‐level support to all school‐based personnel in the use of the computerized student information management system, handles complex system errors or malfunctions, and provides expertise in non‐routine situations
  • Train school‐based personnel in the use of the student information management system, including comprehensive training of new staff and keeping existing staff current with changes to the system
  • In cooperation with the Technology Manager, troubleshoot operational and software problems, determine cause of error or stoppage, apply corrective techniques in cases where the problem is software related, or refer problem to technical support staff
  • Provide on‐site assistance to users with the utilization of available hardware and software
  • Review and evaluate computer database software applications pertaining to student information and data management

  • Three or more years of relevant experience
  • At least one year of experience managing others
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems or relevant field
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office tools, G-Suite and able to use various apps, programs and software
